On Mentoring and Manuscript Feedback
After six years of critiquing and editing the work of my brilliant writer friends, I recently began offering mentoring and manuscript feedback sessions. This came about because a wonderful writer kept insisting on paying me to read her manuscript, refused my deflections, and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Though I felt odd shifting away from my role as impassioned reader/friend, once I agreed, I realized that being paid did let me spend the full amount of time I wished ot give the work its full due. Ultimately, I also realized that paid sessions with teachers had transformed my own relationship to writing, and if I might do the same for others, then that would be a joy. Having tried out many mentors and writing coaches myself, I’ve developed a sense of which approaches might best suit an individual.
Which is to say, my mentoring and manuscript feedback offer isn’t all optimized and ready to go, but for now, feel free to send me an email if you’d like to work together and we’ll figure it out together. You’ll reach me at sygore@gmail.com.

On Workshops
My paid one-to-one mentoring and writing work is relatively new, but I’ve been teaching groups for over twenty years. More details to come!
